Don't drag your car to its last stage of life. Shorten its visits to the mechanic. Keep a periodical check on the working of its various parts and rest assured. It happens that once we own the vehicle of our dream, we tend to forget the rest. We never peep into the internal functioning of the automobile. We never bother to keep a check if the engine is working fine or the other parts are working in complete harmony with each other.

What one should do in such a situation is that take it to the nearest service station and along with it browse through the user’s manual at frequent intervals. To maintain an automobile is not just to look after its external attributes but also interior functions and parts.

The following parts need to be checked from time to time to ensure a smooth drive:

Air filter: Clogging of the air filter with dust and dirt can decrease the life of your engine. The engine in the absence of enough air and the continuous intake of abrasive contaminants by the combustion chamber leads to a poor performance by the engine or a complete damage.

Brakes: A continuous push among the brake pads, rotors and linings is the mechanism behind the stopping of your car. Brakes may fail as we neglect the brake pads and shoes. Rotors, callipers and drums show tendencies to fail at work if not properly take care of.

Coolant: A fluid that is vital in heat absorption from engine and heat dissipation through the radiator. Save your engine from a ruinous failure by checking the coolant level of your car periodically and refilling it at intervals.

Oil Change: As the oil in the automobile is a crucial component for its smooth functioning, it needs to be changed from time to time. Clean oil is far better in the performance of the automobile than dirty oil.

Spark Plug: The originator of the spark that results into combustion that gets the car going is the spark plug. Such a seminal part has to be maintained with extreme care to avoid chances of engine misfiring, poor performance and efficiency of the automobile. The best way is to replace the old spark plugs with new ones.

At the same time, other parts such as Drive Axle Boots, Drive Belts, Power-Steering Fluid, Rotating Tires, Timing Belts, Tire Pressure, Transmission Fluid, etc. need to be changed at regular intervals.
